Island Radar Partners with AlphaHive

The mutually beneficial partnership brings structure, collaboration and mentoring to the first two unique divisions of Wavetronix, the worldwide leader in radar vehicle detection.

For immediate release
Springville, UT—14 April 2020

Island Radar and AlphaHive have a lot in common.  Both companies are spin-offs of Utah-based Wavetronix, the world market leader in radar vehicle detection products.  Now, the two are joining forces in a partnership that brings AlphaHive’s business infrastructure to Island Radar, while AlphaHive will receive mentoring from Island Radar’s experienced business team.

AlphaHive is the startup incubator recently launched by Wavetronix.  Its creation is a realization of Wavetronix’ goal to provide a collegiate-like environment for startups, with a focus on providing business infrastructure, mentorships and personal development programs to entrepreneurs.

The relationship between Island Radar and Wavetronix began in 2011, when the two companies first collaborated on the development of radar-based detection for the international rail industry. In 2018, Wavetronix acquired Island Radar and the two companies have worked together to develop new products and solutions to enhance safety in combined railroad and automotive traffic applications.

Recently, the USDOT Federal Rail Administration approved Island Radar’s detection system for Four-quadrant Gate-crossing Warning System Exit Gate Control.  Multiple railroads have demonstrated that the Island Radar system meets the highest standards of safety and performance required by the FRA. The Island Radar system is only the second product submitted to the FRA to receive this standard of approval.

“This is exciting for us,” says Mike Rose, director of sales at Island Radar.  “AlphaHive’s support will help bring technologies developed by Island Radar to a global railroad market."
